[Salon] Fwd: How US and Ukraine's far-right made pro-peace Zelensky a 'no peace' president

Call this the “rest of the story” as Paul Harvey used to put it, or at least more of it. I constantly hear from a few people of how the Republicans are now the “Party of Peace,” as if waging war on “yellow-skinned” people, the War on China those Republicans who are quoted as against the War on Russia are so in favor of, isn’t a violation of “peace.” Something like how earlier generations of European "International Law” proponents agreed the rules prohibiting torture, and slavery, etc., didn’t apply when it came to treating
“savages” and “barbarians” with extreme cruelty as captives. Be that as it may, war on Russia and China both is in the cards as announced U.S. policy, but always presented as “self-defense,” or in our nation’s “interests,” which is all it takes as a casus belli for Republicans today, as the "New Right" regularly declares. That Democrats like Ben Cardin today on Fox Sunday and the “Scoop-Biden” wing of the Democrats sound so much like Barry Goldwater back when he was alive is only an indication of how deep "Goldwaterism” has become in the national consciousness of the US, as his proponents/fans boast of.
